Know Your Roof

Roofing-Parts-Pic-Alt.jpg

Becoming familiar with the components of your roof will help you make sense of the estimates you’ll receive from Mackenzie Exteriors.

  1. Ice/Water Shield

  2. Synthetic Underlay

  3. Valley Metal Flashing

  4. Drip Edge

  5. Capping Shingles

  6. Shingles

  1. Ice/Water Shield eaves protection will help prevent ice damming, and make sure the eave line of your roof is protected properly.

  2. Synthetic underlay  will help with your last line of defence from water ingress,  providing a non organic based underlay to your roof system.

  3. Valley metal with Ice and water shield underneath all valley applications will help move ice and snow off your roof preventing water ingress and ice damming issues.

  4. Metal drip edge will help direct water to where it belongs, in your eavestroughs and not wicking back onto the roof surface damaging plywood and adding to costly repairs down the road.

  5. Ridge cap shingles are installed to overlap the field shingles—they start the roof’s seal and accentuate the roofline.

  6. We use the best quality fibreglass shingles designed specifically for the Alberta market and made in Alberta.
